Welcome to the Programming Merit Badge! This is an exciting new merit badge, just introduced on July 15, 2013. You will be some of the first scouts to earn this badge!
Programming is all around us. Obviously in our computers, smart phones, and tablets, but also in our cars, microwaves, cable boxes, alarm clocks, etc. Everyday more and more of the things we do depend on high quality programmed devices.
The goal of this badge is to teach you about programming, expose you to a number of different programming languages, and to give you experience writing some code.
Requirement 5 will be the most difficult and require the most time. Because of this, we will spend most of our time at meetings working towards completing this requirement. However, while I will guide and teach you during the class, you will need to write the required code on your own computers and bring your completed programs back to class (on a memory stick or emailed to me).
We will work through the other requirements in-between discussions about Requirement 5.
I look forward to an excellent class. I hope you are excited too!
