install java
Java is a hybrid language. This means that Java code must be compiled into byte code before it can be run. Once it is compiled, it requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) sometimes called the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to interpret the byte code and run the program. However, in order to compile the byte code, you will need to download and install the Java Development Kit (JDK) that is specific for your machine.
Almost all computers have a JRE installed, but we need the JDK, which includes a JRE, in order to compile our Java code.
Let's install the JDK first, and then we'll install our development environment BlueJay.
